Finance Manager

Description We are in search of a Finance Manager to join our team in the Waste, Refuse & Environmental Waste Mgt industry based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. In this role, you will be overseeing the accounting workflow, providing accounting direction, and offering analytical support to division management. You will also ensure the overall quality of accounting and statutory financial compliance.Responsibilities: Oversee the workflow of accounting and payroll personnel across different functional areas like invoice processing, billing, cash receipts, work order processing, credit analysis, receivable collections, month-end close, journal entries, statistical data, and payroll Ensure financial internal control processes across all business unit functional areas, including sales, customer service, operations, HR, payroll, etc., are compliant with company policies, procedures, Sarbanes Oxley, and other statutory requirements Manage the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and review financial statements and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles(GAAP) and Company policies and procedures Offer analytical support to sales and marketing for customer pricing and profitability analysis, commercial and municipal bids, and market development projects Provide accounting direction and analytical support to all departments within the division, including general management, sales, operations, maintenance, customer service, etc. Oversee credit and collection function to maximize division cash-flow and ensure division is in compliance with company credit and stop service policies Manage the accounting aspects of capital expenditures, transfers, and retirements, including the review and approval of all related asset management sub-ledger transactions Support the General Manager with financial analytics to support sound and profitable business decisions and provide financial expertise during the annual budget and interim forecasting process Manage and provide necessary support to financial audits including internal audits, external audits, and peer reviews Ensure completion and submission of financial filings and returns required by contractual agreements and government entities, such as tax filings, franchise, host, and royalty fees. Requirements Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role in the Waste, Refuse & Environmental Waste Management industry Proven expertise in Accounting Software Systems Proficiency in ADP - Financial Services Familiarity with BlackLine Strong knowledge of Concur Experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning Thorough understanding of Accounting Functions Practical experience with Accounts Payable (AP) Proficiency in managing Accounts Receivable (AR) Strong background in Auditing Capable of handling Billing Functions efficiently. Serves as a technical expert and consultant in Corporate Underwriting on responses to questions and concerns for all operating units. Serves as an advisor on responses to questions and concerns from operating units and Bureau inquiries. Collaborates with enterprise operating units and within Corporate Underwriting in furtherance of enterprise cost containment strategies as necessary. Represents Corporate Underwriting and the enterprise, on various committees and events as appropriate and approved. Performs special projects, as assigned. Provides evaluation and input regarding effectiveness of departmental programs and projects. Maintains confidentiality of all information processed. Leads the research, analysis and implementation of new or existing product ideas, market development, and product enhancements, including creating/supporting business cases, designing solutions, and implementing innovative products for multiple commercial lines of insurance. Evaluates the cost benefit of product initiatives and recommends actions based on evaluation, including identifying product improvements for complex product and policy construction considerations. Conduct full policy wording reviews for renewals to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines. Plays a key role in the development of short and long term strategic product & underwriting strategies in support of AF Group\'s business and profitability goals. Responsible for creating best practices and training to engage enterprise. Responsible for managing key compliance and regulatory relationships to include product objection management.
