The position is a member of a matrixed PMO team. The position works closely with and oversees the performance of numerous vendors executing sustainment and modernization of wireless network infrastructure at numerous awarded Task Order bases simultaneously worldwide. The position will guide and participate in technical solution development and vendor selection.The Main ResponsibilitiesLead Wireless Engineer – Federal is a key position in the Strategic Government Program Management Organization (PMO) supporting the BIM program. The Lead Wireless Engineer – Federal oversees all technical aspects of the wireless infrastructure of the BIM program. BIM is a multi-award indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract in support of Department of Air Force Base Area Network BAN) efforts to modernize over one-hundred and eighty-seven (187) installations globally. The DAF intends to modernize the Non-classified Internet Protocol Router (NIPR) and Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) BAN through an as-a-service model utilizing contractor provided networking services. The BAN architecture is comprised of wired network components, wireless network components, inside plant cabling, outside plant cabling, and distribution services. The Lead Wireless Engineer will oversee and direct modernization, operation, and maintenance of base network infrastructure to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs).What We Look For in a CandidateThe Lead Wireless Engineer is responsible for technical planning and execution of all wireless infrastructure aspects of Lumen’s BIM program. The position is a member of a matrixed PMO team. The position works closely with and oversees the performance of numerous vendors executing sustainment and modernization of wireless network infrastructure at numerous awarded Task Order bases simultaneously worldwide. The position will guide and participate in technical solution development and vendor selection.Serves as the main point of contact for all wireless infrastructure technical issues of the BIM program.Has a technical background that facilitates understanding of Government technical requirements and communication with the Government BIM PMO.Works closely with BIM PMO-specified personnel to facilitate effective planning and accomplishment of critical objectives in a timely manner.Manages all subcontractor interface requirements in conjunction with the Program Manager.Notifies the Government BIM PMO and Lumen Program Manager, immediately, of any problems or issues.Approve/Signoff all engineering documents before submission to the Government. This is to include, but not limited to, Site Survey, PIR, CIR, and IPA documents.Skills/Qualifications

Five (5) to eight (8) years of technical supervisory experience to provide supervision, direction, and control of technical/engineering personnel. (Required)

Five to ten (5-10) years’ experience at the consulting level designing, configuring, and implementing wireless networks.

Expert knowledge and experience in Network planning, design strategies for an enterprise WLAN, design of infrastructure and network services, designing WLAN RF, advanced wireless site surveying, 802.11 security design, and troubleshooting of WLAN design. (Required)

Education

A scientific, technical, or engineering Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university. Accredited schools are those reported to the US Department of Education and maintained within the Secretary of Education’s database. (Required)

Network engineering technical certification equivalent to Certified Wireless Design Professional (CWDP) for Wireless. (Required)

CompTIA Security+ certification. (Required)

BISCI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (Desired)

BICSI Certifications (Installer 2, Copper (INSTC); Installer 2, Optical Fiber (INSTF); BICSI Technician TECH) (Desired)

Security Clearance

At a minimum, must carry DoD Secret level security clearance at time of award. (Required)
