Responsible for the delivery of respiratory therapy and patient care following physician’s orders, hospital policies and procedures; and departmental standards of care and standards of practice.Responsibilities:
Performs therapeutic and diagnostic pulmonary and cardiovascular procedures.
Evaluates patient/resident response to respiratory therapy and takes appropriate corrective action.
Provides education to patients and staff regarding respiratory procedures, equipment operation, and safety precautions.
Performs routine maintenance and service checks on equipment.
Maintains records, reports, and other documentation related to the work.
Requirements for a Respiratory Therapist Registered:
Associate degree in a Respiratory Therapist Educational Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Bachelors degree preferred.
Current state licensure as a respiratory therapist.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the NBRC.
BLS certification.

Enrolled or graduate of an A.M.A. approved respiratory care education and training program (or equivalent), who is awaiting successful completion of either the NBRC Entry Level: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Advanced Practitioner: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and state examinations. Employee must become credentialed and licensed during the first year of employment.
