Friedland Industries, Inc. Is looking to fill a general laborer position.
We are scrap metal and fiber processors located in the heart of Lansing's Old Town for over 135 years. We are a union shop, offering full benefits and 401k contribution.
The ideal candidate must have a positive attitude, a safety-first mindset, and willingness to work and learn. With the nature of our business, material flow changes happen rapidly, and so does the work involved. This position will mainly work in an un-air conditioned/heated warehouse setting. Experience operating forklifts and other heavy equipment is a plus, but not required.
This position will be responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to:
Sorting materials
Sorting and dumping paper to feed shredders
Assisting in operating industrial paper shredders
Assisting the baler crews
Cleaning
Assisting in the metals yard
APPLICANTS MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST, POSSESS A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE, AND HAVE THEIR OWN MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION
Pay starts at $16.50 per hour, with $1.00/HR raise after 60 working days.
