Mechanical Engineer for Livonia, MI:Analyze product designs to identify cost drivers and recommend modifications to improve manufacturability, cost and reduce resource utilization. Evaluate designs and/or products from aspects of both specifications and cost. Schedule and participate in Value Analysis/Value Engineering sessions with Subject Matter Expert's to evaluate recommendations. Coordinate with a globally based, cross-functional team to assess cost of identified improvements. Responsible for preparation and analysis of cost reports of existing and proposed designs. Taking care of report generation in the form of presentation deliverables to customers. Participate in customer review sessions to discuss recommendations and identify further scope for improvement. Taking care of engineering validation of CAD model using CAD software such as JT2GO, Creo, CATIA. Generate reports of mass analysis, material types and manufacturing methods to compare vehicles across multiple platforms. Maintain, track, and create weekly update reports for Value Analysis/Value Engineering, Mass Analysis and Bill of Material. Assist in part display and live streaming for Idea Review Workshops/Virtual Customer Visits. Support Bill of Material Team in functional mapping for benchmarking automotive vehicles on in-house developed Data Acquisition System (DAS Tool) and deliver to global teams. Create Metrology and Measurement reports adhering to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards. Create 2-D sketches and 3-D models in adherence to ASME Y14.5 and IS 15054 standards of geometric tolerancing. Practice continuous Improvement strategies to eliminate waste and increase efficiency of operations. Assist in maintaining six sigma techniques for floor operations.Master's Degree in Automotive Systems Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with 2 years experience, foreign equivalent accepted, 40hrs a week. Must be willing to travel or relocate to unanticipated location in future if required.
