SYP Trucking is a small locally-owned trucking company located in Muskegon. We are looking to add an experienced full-time lead truck mechanic and manager to our garage team. This person will be responsible for managing our garage, semi truck maintenance and repairs, and occasionally helping with trailers and other equipment as needed. Most of our trucks are late 1990s-early 2000s with a few newer ones, mostly International, Freightliner, Volvo, a few Sterlings and Peterbilts, etc.
We are looking for someone reliable who is able to work first shift, 5-6 days a week which will include overtime, 45 to 55 hour weeks as required.
Job requirements:
Have and maintain a valid CDL-A, other certifications are a plus but not required
Be able to pass a drug test at all times as required by FMCSA CDL-holder requirements
Possess familiarity with computers for online parts ordering, email communication, scanning documentation, truck diagnostics via computer, etc.
Strongly prefer at least 5 years of equipment repair experience and 2 years of management experience

Job responsibilities include:
Scheduling trucks in to garage for maintenance and repairs or, for major issues, to outside service providers
Performing maintenance and repairs to our fleet of 20+ semi trucks and occasionally to trailers (van and lead) and shop equipment, as well as scheduling and performing annual federal inspections
Communicating with office and with drivers
Road calls as required
Supervising and training other garage employees
Ordering parts, maintaining parts inventory, and tracking/managing costs
Documenting work, maintaining digital and physical truck records
Managing and following safety standards
Recommending and developing systems and improvements to any and all of the above
Pay depends on experience, with benefits and raise available after the first 60 days. All employees are paid weekly by direct deposit. Benefits include health/dental/life/etc and paid holidays after 60 days, paid vacation after 1 year and 401(k) with matching available after 1 year. Veterans welcome!
