Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.Role SummaryThe Sr. Service Engineer, Collision Repair will be responsible for ensuring Rivian vehicles having accurate collision repair information and instructions available. This role will require high levels of initiative, independent judgement and cross-team collaboration. The Sr. Service Engineer must be able to complete projects in a compressed timeline. This role will report in a hybrid schedule to our Team Lead, Service Engineering, Exteriors based in the Irvine, CA office.ResponsibilitiesSupport Rivian's Global Collision Repair ProgramDrive best practices and standards of work for Serviceability of Design and drive those requirements into the vehicle development processDevelop Service Repair Strategies for Structural body-in-white components on Rivian vehiclesIdentify sheet metal Service parts needed for repairs performed at collision repair centersRelease production part assemblies into serviceable sub-systems for an efficient and effective service part strategyMonitor and maintenance engineering sheet metal service part change actionsCollaborate with Purchasing to ensure Production Suppliers provide the appropriate amount of service parts based on service part release strategyCoordinate the return of key parts replaced in the field so the failure mode can be root caused and a fix implemented in productionIdentify, define, promote emerging product and service issues to appropriate channels and into a closed loop system for problem resolutionDevelop service procedures for collision technicians to successfully repair Rivian vehiclesEnsure that engineering field action repair recommendations can be correctly and repeatedly performed by collision techniciansSupport Dealer Field Action bulletins (safety, compliance, emission, customer satisfaction, service update)Research and identify tools available in the collision industry to properly repair vehiclesProvide input and expertise into the development of technical service training materialsDrive Prediction, Prevention, and Protection culture in everything we doQualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Automotive Technology with 3 years of relevant experience or 5+ years equivalent work experience required3+ years' experience with demonstrated leadership in Service, Aftersales & Engineering Launch experience on a vehicle programExperience with Catia CAD a plusDemonstrated leadership in driving service requirements in a complex environmentExperience with both aluminum and steel vehicle structural service repair developmentAbility to manage multiple projects across varying geographic locations simultaneouslyWillingness to work in a strong cross functional environmentAppropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with internal and external partnersTechnical and professional skills in job-related area requiredAble to work efficiently under high amount of work/stressSpecific knowledge of engineering discipline (e.g. adhesives, fasteners, welding, crash testing) within job-related areaAd
