About this Position: The Animal Industry Division of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is committed to protecting, regulating, and promoting Animal Health. Public health, animal health and well-being, and animal industries are safeguarded through collaborative efforts and implementation of effective programs. This position provides guidance and expertise on wildlife issues related to the health of domestic animals in Michigan, specifically focusing on bovine tuberculosis. The position will perform on-site farm evaluations to identify areas of risk of wildlife disease transmission and assists with creation of a biosecurity plan incorporating data of surrounding wildlife inventory. Increasingly addressing diseases of livestock and companion animals depends on addressing the wildlife-domestic animal interface. The effectiveness of disease control programs in domestic animals often depends on eliminating or controlling exposure between wildlife and domestic animals.
