The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities.The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Parks and Trails is currently seeking two (2) year-round, intermittent on call as needed (10%) position at Afton State Park. Work schedule and work hours will vary and may include nights, weekends, and holidays. This position exists to provide public contact, visitor services, enforcement & emergency services, physical plant maintenance, and Nature Store services necessary to the park operation. This is a working position and will involve interaction with the public and working with other park staff to complete assigned tasks. The nature of this work is to be environment specific and public service oriented.Responsibilities include:Visitor Services - Collect fees, sell permits, and merchandise, and ensure visitors are charged the current rate for all goods and services.Information Services- Provide information and orientation to the public and reservation holders so that all visitors are made aware of rules, facilities, and activities in a way that promotes a positive image of Afton State Park.Administrative Support - Provide assistance with income reporting, facility reservations, and other miscellaneous office duties so that accountability and timely completion is maintained.Facility and grounds Maintenance- Provide assistance with grounds keeping, facility maintenance and upkeep duties.Merchandise Program- Assist with organizing and operating a functional merchandise program so that fiscal accountability and adequate inventory is maintained.Enforcement and Emergency Services - Implement enforcement and emergency service programs in the park so park resources, facilities, visitors, and staff are protected.Minimum QualificationsAbility to effectively communicate with the public and other employees.Ability to provide written information and instructions to the public and other park employees.Experience with and knowledge of office equipment such as calculators, cash registers, POS systems, computers, printers, telephone systems and other office equipment.Arithmetic skills sufficient to accurately collect money from the public for various fees.Ability to read and comprehend instructions on labels, in instruction manuals, etc.Ability to operate a phone, two way-radio, computer, and other office equipment.Ability and willingness to work alone at night, in remote areas.Preferred QualificationsExperience operating a cash register.Experience booking and organizing reservations for multiple facilities within a location(s).Security experience.Knowledge of Minnesota State Park rules, policies, and facilities.Record keeping skills.Computer skills using Microsoft Office and other proprietary software.Experience in retail operations.Additional RequirementsThis position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver’s License with a clear driving recordApplicants must have the ability to meet the physical requirements and work in the environmental conditions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.It is policy of the Department of Natural Resources that all candidates submit to a background check prior to employment.
