Work individually and with other PI Lab team members to drive continuous improvement in aerospace design and manufacturing. This person will act as a technical expert in investigations to determine the root cause failure mechanism of electrical failures. Failures will be investigated at all phases of the product life cycle from the system level to the component level and from R&D to Field Reliability.
Independently work to continuously improve the PI Lab’s electrical failure analysis capability through benchmarking failure analysis methods, procurement of new equipment, and development of new analysis techniques.
Provide and develop leadership during investigative analysis of Collins Aerospace technology and products. Apply scientific theory and successfully exercise problem-solving judgment while utilizing our laboratory’s destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) capabilities including:
Variable Pressure Scanning Electron Microscope
Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectrometer (EDX)
X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Spectrometer
Fourier Transform Infrared & RAMAN Spectroscopy (FTIR)
Real-time Micro-focus X-ray / Digital Radiography (DR)
Computed Tomography X-ray Imaging (CT)
Optical & Digital Microscopy
Tensile, Compression, Hardness Testing
Cross Sectioning & Metallographic Sample Preparation
Material Microstructure Interpretation & Fracture Analysis
Collaborate with and guide cross-functional teams to reach a successful outcome
Determine failure root cause(s) and capture investigation results in high-quality engineering reports for key stakeholders
Provide guidance and expertise to help engineers design and produce high-quality, highly reliable aerospace sensors and systems

Qualifications You Must Have:
Requires a Bachelor's degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).

Qualifications We Prefer:
Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience with Destructive and/or Non-Destructive testing techniques in a professional work setting or lab work environment.
Experience in electrical/electronic design.
Proficient at reading schematics and troubleshooting circuits.
Hands-on experience using electrical test equipment for fault isolation: Power Supplies, Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, and other electronics test equipment.
A self-starter who can work independently. Failure Analysis requires tenacious, independent investigation that does not follow a predetermined path or outcome.
Solid background in the electrical, chemical, metallurgical, mechanical, and physical sciences.
In-depth failure analysis is a research-based profession with the added factor of fast-paced, urgent customer support (internal and external). We are looking for someone with high energy, a positive attitude, and attention to detail who takes an inventive approach to solving problems.
Hands-on experience with destructive analysis tools and methods.
