Heart care is delivered in collaboration with the physicians and healthcare team. Helps prepare, educate, and support electrophysiology patients pre and post heart care procedures. Evaluates patients, reviews diagnostic tests and initiates/modifies diet, lifestyle and other therapies using nursing processes.Job Expectations:Provides a deliberate patient and family centered partnership with the interdisciplinary Electrophysiology Heart Care program to facilitate a seamless patient experience between the Inpatient and Outpatient settingsLeads a team approach and serves as a single point of contact by facilitating and overseeing a subspecialty within the Electrophysiology Heart program (Complex PVI and VT Ablations, Cardiac Device Implants, Laser Lead Extractions, EP Studies/Ablation)Develops a patient centered care plan across the continuum: referral, consult, preop, post op, discharge, follow upReviews required test results and verifies that all necessary tests are completed and meet requirements for planned proceduresProvides patient/family electrophysiology focused education during clinic and/or via phone with electrophysiology heart teamProvides patient/family education during preoperative and postoperative nursing visitsEffectively communicates and work alongside the electrophysiology physicians and the electrophysiology advanced practice providers to provide patient carePerforms independent nursing care office visits, postprocedural physical assessments, and EKG/rhythm interpretationDaily management of patient care involving triage patient calls, managing results, and documentationMaintains knowledge of inclusion and exclusion criteria for specific electrophysiology proceduresTeam approach working with other electrophysiology nurse clinicians and actively participates in creating and implementing programmatic improvements and efficienciesWorks to maintain primary cardiology involvement and a referral process for electrophysiology proceduresWaitlist management and triage critical patients waiting for procedures appropriatelyCollaboration with the Cardiac Cath lab staff and scheduling to coordinate patient careSupports care provided to patient in transition of inpatient and outpatient settings through shared communication of plan of care and patient/family needsOrganization Expectations, as applicable:Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served

QualificationsRequired:EducationAssociate's degree in Nursing required.ExperienceExperience: 2 years of post-coronary or coronary critical care experience as a registered nurse.Knowledge: Knowledge of adult cardiovascular health and disease processes as well as related diagnostic and treatment modalities. Ability to perform a brief history and physical examination and to recognize abnormal findings.License/Certification/RegistrationBasic Life Support (BLS)Registered Nurse MN (RN)KnowledgeExcellent assessment and care coordination skillsUnderstanding or willing to learn a subspeciality of cardiology - ElectrophysiologyUnderstanding basic EKG rhythm interpretationAbility to communicate effectively with providers and within a teamAble to relay ideas to leadership regarding program growthPreferred:EducationBachelor's degree preferred.Other Skills We Desire:
