6th Grade Teacher, Immediate Opening

Hiring Immediately for Remainder of 2023-2024 School Year.

Summary: Provide a rigorous, stimulating and positive learning experience for all students; work closely with parents and/or guardians to support student performance, and collaborate with other staff to create a safe, structured learning community.

Responsibilities

Positive School Community

Establish and enforce Responsive Classroom practices

Organize and lead classroom activities to promote physical, mental and social emotional health and development

Maintain positive, professional relationships with staff, students and parents in and out of school

Meet with parents and/or guardians to discuss student progress and to determine priorities and needs for their students

Communicate with parents and families regularly, through weekly newsletters, designated phone apps, phone calls and email

Attend and help coordinate monthly family events

Implement school discipline policies as explained in the Schoolwide Guide

Curriculum

Implement all curriculum with fidelity, including 5 Global Units each year encompassing all Social Studies and Science standards,Benchmark Literacy Whole Group, Benchmark Literacy Small Group (GuidedReading), Benchmark Literacy Word Study/Phonics, Benchmark Writing and Math curriculum Everyday Math.

Establish clear objectives for ALL lessons based on MN State Standards and communicate these to students

Prepare daily/weekly lesson plans and provide written evidence of planning as requested by turning in lesson plans by Monday at 9:00 a.m.

Collaborate weekly with grade-level team to promote learning and consistency between classrooms

Integrate arts and technology into lessons to enhance teaching

Assessment

Assess and evaluate students’ academic performance on a regular basis in order to enhance and inform instruction, including Fountas and Pinnell 3 times a year, Fastbridge 3 times a year, Benchmark assessments as directed and Math assessments within curriculum as directed

Maintain accurate and complete Cumulative Student Data Files and a grade book as required by law and the school

Professional Responsibilities

Plan, supervise, communicate and evaluate assignments and interventions for classroom paraprofessionals

Select, store and inventory classroom equipment, materials and supplies

Meet with school administrators, coaches and other school professionals regarding individual student needs

Attend professional trainings and workshops to improve professional competence

Attend all staff meetings; serve on committees as required and be aware of and follow all policies and essential agreements within the school

Accurately take attendance, breakfast counts and enforce the school food rules, as well as healthy snack expectations and Wellness policy

Adhere to all Stonebridge Policies, Essential Agreements and School-Wide Guide

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Elementary Education

Valid Minnesota teaching license for the appropriate level or subject area
