Position OverviewThis prominent role requires an individual to provide essential leadership across all facets of the company's data platform. The Data Architect will establish and enforce architectural standards, frameworks, and solutions within the Data Engineering, Data Quality, and Infrastructure teams, aligning with evolving technologies and business needs.This is a permanent/direct hire position which will be hybrid with 2-3 days per week in-office in Bloomington. Target pay is up to $150k.Candidates must be local to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metro area and must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship both now and in the future.Key ResponsibilitiesArchitectural Leadership and Vision for the Company's Data Platform and Data Lake:Develop and lead architectural roadmaps for databases, data access, and data technology architecture within our Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Analytics environment.Offer expertise in engineering best practices, standards, architectural methodologies, and complex technical solutions across the entire data ecosystem.Articulate and present the value and vision of proposed data architectures and solutions to diverse stakeholders.Establish best practices and processes for data management, governance, and continuous evolution.Enhance the Enterprise Data Analytics Platform and Its Capabilities:Assess the current data platform and create a modernization roadmap.Design and implement data solutions that meet both business and IT needs, ensuring new projects' technical feasibility, successful deployment, optimal resource allocation, and adoption of critical data technologies (such as Profisee MDM, Snowflake, Azure SQL DB, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL DW, and SQL Server).Deploy enterprise-wide data models for multiple functional areas and guide others in non-enterprise data modeling.Collaborate with Data Engineers and the Visualization Hub leader to establish best practices for data analytics tools across the organization.Design and Develop Data Solutions Aligned with Business Needs:Collaborate with business units and peers to gather and define business requirements for new initiatives, including project scope, benefits, budget, and timelines.Engage with stakeholders of the Data Platform to understand their requirements and provide tailored guidance on suitable data platform techniques, clearly articulating their advantages and limitations.Mentorship and Collaboration:Mentor Business Analysts, Engineers, and other team members on various projects and tasks.Work with IT teams across the organization to deliver strategic initiatives through strong leadership, clear direction, influence, and integration with agile development practices.Qualifications and SkillsExperience:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field; certifications or advanced degrees in data analytics are a plus.3+ years of experience in cloud architecture and data transformation at scale.7+ years of experience in designing and implementing enterprise data stores, data warehouses, data governance, data quality management, real-time data ingestion, data modeling, and metadata management, using tools like Azure Synapse or Snowflake.Proficiency in data ingestion, modeling, and visualization tools, such as Snowflake, Microsoft Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Power BI.Expertise in metadata management, ETL processes, and reference data management.Familiarity with data platform instrumentation, log data processing, and monitoring.Experience with scripting, automation, SQL/PL-SQL, and high-level programming languages like Python and Java.Required Skills:Strong understanding of strategic business objectives and their impact on business process design and requirements.Ability to identify and manage conflicts effectively to ensure project progression.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Passion for mentoring and coaching others.Proactive, self-driven, and detail-oriented.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
