At Securian Financial Group the internal position title is Architecture Senior Consultant.

Overview:

Securian Financial's Enterprise Architecture team is actively seeking an innovative, results-oriented individual to serve as a Solution Architect supporting Technology Experience Platforms. As a member of the Enterprise Architecture team, you will provide thought leadership and direction for our technology transformation. Solution Architects operate in a highly collaborative environment, working closely with business, technology, and risk partners to build trust and develop a deep understanding of business objectives. In this role, you will drive modernization of the application portfolio, enabling business outcomes while ensuring alignment with the enterprise architecture.

This position supports a diverse mix of business functions in the sales and service, marketing and customer experience domain. The Solution Architect provides technology solutions for mission-critical platforms and applications, such as Salesforce, Adobe, Workfront, DocuSign.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Translate business strategy and requirements into technology solutions that drive business outcomes

  • Provide architectural leadership on strategic initiatives, serving as a trusted advisor to the assigned market organization

  • Guide solutions through the architecture review process. Create and present diagrams and other architecture artifacts to enterprise architects to promote common understanding and optimize decisions.

  • Provide direction to agile and project teams to streamline decisions and ensure alignment with the future state architecture

  • Evaluate planned and in-flight projects to identify impacts to the current state architecture

  • Analyze the application portfolio and share with leadership recommendations for improving business and technical health, to increase resiliency, scalability, risk profile, and effectiveness

  • Communicate and champion the enterprise architecture direction to the assigned market organization

  • Identify opportunities for shared solutions and leverage shared solutions in architecture solutions, to increase efficiency and minimize enterprise redundancy

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to evolve architecture principles, policies, and best practices

    Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success translating business requirements and desired capabilities into technical solutions

  • Strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with and influence business and technical stakeholders

  • Understanding of common architecture and systems integration patterns, with an ability to apply them to solve business problems

  • At least seven years of experience in information technology, including at least two years in an architecture role

  • 2+ years' experience of working with commercial off-the-shelf software (COTS) including customization, configuration of platform & integrating with other applications

  • Experience with custom application development deployed on premise and in the cloud

  • Expert logical analysis, problem solving, and conceptualization skills

  • Strong technical aptitude, curiosity for applying innovative technology, and the ability to quickly develop an understanding of new concepts and subjects

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to effectively deliver messages at the appropriate level of detail to different audiences

  • General knowledge across the architectural domains of business, application, data, technology, and security

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field of study

    Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with marketing technology platforms will be an added advantage

  • Exposure to Salesforce, Adobe experience manager, Workfront

  • Understanding of UI/UX design

  • Development experience with programming languages like Java, JavaScript, Angular, or similar

  • API design and development experience

  • Knowledge of cloud-native architecture best practices

  • Design and development of applications using AWS

  • Experience working with agile methodologies, practices, and teams

  • Financial Services industry experience

    This position will be in a hybrid working arrangement

    Physical job requirements:

  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day

  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week

  • Ability to utilize telephone for up to 8 hours per day

  • Ability to perform grasping tasks throughout the entire work day (examples: handwriting, grasping of equipment/machines, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, handling stacks of paper)
