Job Summary:
This role involves working independently and as part of a team, maintaining the grounds, assisting with burial services, and ensuring the cemetery remains a peaceful and respectful environment for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform general landscaping duties, including mowing, trimming, pruning, watering, fertilizing, and planting
Prepare burial sites: digging graves (manual and mechanical), placing vaults, backfilling, and leveling
Set up and take down tents, chairs, and other equipment for funeral services
Maintain roadways, pathways, and grave markers
Remove debris, litter, and seasonal hazards (e.g., snow removal, leaf cleanup)
Operate and maintain a variety of landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, backhoes, etc.)
Ensure safety procedures are followed at all times
Following cemetery protocol to assist with locating and marking grave sites as needed
Perform basic maintenance on groundskeeping tools and equipment
Report damages, vandalism, or maintenance issues to the supervisor
Provide respectful and compassionate assistance to families and visitors when needed
Other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred
Prior experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or cemetery work is a plus
Ability to operate lawn care equipment and machinery safely
Comfortable performing physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work on feet for extended periods
Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
Valid driver’s license required & reliable transportation
Ability to maintain a respectful demeanor in a sensitive work environment
Must have your own steel-toed footwear

Work Environment:
This role is physically demanding and performed primarily outdoors. Grounds workers must be prepared to work in heat, cold, rain, and other challenging weather conditions. The position involves frequent walking, bending, lifting, and operating heavy equipment.
