Commercial Roofing Inspector / Takeoff Specialist

Purpose / Role Summary:

To inspect commercial roofing systems, document existing conditions, and produce detailed, accurate takeoffs for repair, restoration, and reroof projects. This role ensures consistent field documentation, efficient estimating workflows, and reliable data for pricing and sales.

Key Accountabilities

Complete timely and thorough roof inspections for service and re-roof opportunities

Produce accurate and complete takeoffs using company-standard software and documentation tools

Ensure scope documentation, photos, and details meet internal SOPs for estimating

Communicate effectively with estimating, service, and production teams to align expectations and deliverables

Represent the company professionally during site visits, maintaining customer trust and confidence

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

Conduct on-site roof inspections (accessing roof safely, taking photos, measuring, identifying deficiencies)

Create detailed roof drawings (hand-drawn or digital) and convert to formal takeoffs

Identify and document roof system type, condition, penetrations, drains, and safety hazards

Use company software (e.g., Raken, Smartsheet, FCS or similar) to log and organize all site data

Coordinate with Service or Estimating teams for pricing, scopes, and proposals

Assist in developing scopes for preventative maintenance, repair, and re-roof projects

Update and maintain inspection SOP documentation and support field training

Core Skills & Experience:

3+ years commercial roofing experience preferred

Strong understanding of roof systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, BUR, Modified, etc.)

Familiarity with inspection documentation, takeoff software, and digital measurement tools, ie FCS

Proficient with mobile field documentation (iPad, Raken, photo logs, etc.)

OSHA 10/30 certified and trained in fall protection standards

Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
