Freelance/Contract Paralegal Needed for Trial Preparation, In-Court Support, and Post-Trial Submissions - Trust Dispute
About Us:
We are pro se litigants preparing for a trial scheduled to begin on December 16, 2024 in Ramsey County, Minnesota. Our case involves trust litigation, and we are seeking an experienced freelance or contract paralegal to assist with key trial preparation tasks, in-court logistics, and post-trial submissions.
Role Responsibilities:
We require assistance with the following:
Pre-Trial and In-Court Work:
Exhibit Management:
Uploading exhibits to the Minnesota District Court Electronic Filing System (MNDES).
Preparing and organizing paper exhibits for in-court use, including creating exhibit binders.
Multimedia Presentation:
Setting up and managing technology to present video and audio evidence effectively in court.
Subpoena Preparation:
Drafting subpoenas for witnesses and ensuring proper service procedures.
Drafting Motions:
Assisting with drafting motions during trial based on our direction.
General Trial Support:
Providing guidance on courtroom procedures and ensuring compliance with court rules.
Post-Trial Work:
Post-Trial Submissions:
Assisting with the preparation of proposed Findings of Fact, Conclusions of Law, and Orders for Judgment.
Conducting legal research as needed for post-trial motions and submissions.
Qualifications:
Experience working as a paralegal, preferably with trial preparation, in-court support, and post-trial filings.
Familiarity with Minnesota court procedures, particularly MNDES and local rules.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work efficiently and handle tasks under tight deadlines.
Previous experience supporting pro se litigants is a plus.
Location and Commitment:
The trial will take place in Ramsey County, Minnesota, but remote support for tasks like exhibit preparation, document drafting, and post-trial submissions is possible for many aspects.
In-person availability during trial dates (December 16–21, 2024) would be ideal but is not mandatory.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
