Protofab Engineering is looking for a Anodize and Finishing Specialist. This is a full-time, permanent, day position. We have a full benefit package, which includes medical and dental insurance, PTO, short-term and long-term disability, and 401K.
Protofab Engineering is a high-end, prototype to production manufacturer in Blaine, MN. We’ve been around since 1989 and specialize in tight tolerances, difficult features, and fast turn arounds. The industries we serve include medical, aerospace, defense, high technology and many more.
The person in this position will use their knowledge of mixing, testing, and replacing chemical baths to maintain the correct operating parameters. They will also know how to determine the needs of each part to ensure a quality finish.
Core Duties:
Must be able to understand blueprints and drawings in order to complete parts to meet the finishing specifications
Possess working knowledge of most anodize, plating, coating and finishing processes and be able to execute them
Work safely with chemicals on a daily basis and be able to maintain levels in tanks to produce correct plating requirements
Be able to troubleshoot technical issues related to any of the provided finishing operations.
Be able to interface with external finishing shops to ensure their finished product will conform to our customer standards.
Cooperate with other departments to understand how buildups and processes will affect the outcome of the finished product
Maintain chemical inventory
Purchase chemicals, equipment, etc and arrange for external plate testing
Conduct self in accordance with certifications or regulations, such as ISO 9001 and ITAR, that are in place for the company
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned
Assist other departments as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Good organization skills
Ability to follow directions and work well under limited supervision
Has knowledge of basic chemistry properties
Has knowledge of safe storage of an assortment of chemicals, as well as safe waste removal
Must work well and have a willingness to cooperate with others
Experience is preferred but will train the right candidate
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
Must be able to carry items from one area of the facility to the other
Must be able to kneel, stoop, and climb a ladder to reach upper shelves
Requires good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
