Walkabout's Landscapers & Stonemasons are responsible for the installation of landscapes,
artisan stonescapes, carpentry and naturalistic gardens through traditional and ecologically
informed methods of construction.
Qualifications:
Preferred Field Qualifications:
● Shows keen interest in advancing craftsmanship and construction knowledge
● Has experience in custom landscape feature building including outdoor kitchens,
fireplaces, stoops, stairs and landings.
● Has experience with stone setting especially using reclaimed materials, construction of
dry stacked walls, and is skilled with stone shaping techniques including hand-chiseling,
sawing, splitting, and custom flatwork.
● Experienced with grading methods and drainage especially to reduce soil erosion and
increase water filtration,
● Experience with planting trees, shrubs and perennials, and garden preparation.
● Outdoor carpentry experience is preferred
● Understanding of site conditions including soil compositions, grade, water runoff &
absorption, light exposure, & plantings.
● Maintains tidiness and organization of project site, vehicles, and shop at all times.
● Ability to operate a skid steer, excavator, dump truck, manual transmission truck, and
haul a trailer
● Comfortable safely operating a wide variety of tools including saws, jackhammers, drills,
stone shaping tools, laser level, etc.
● Knowledge of irrigation systems is a plus.
● Can stay focused, engaged and mindful through the completion of repetitive tasks.
● Can lift 70 lbs and can maintain physical activity throughout the day.

equipment needs.
● Can listen then execute instructions in a timely, accurate and detailed manner.

● Shows a commitment to job site safety.
● Can meet deadlines and is willing to work hard to do so when necessary.
● Possesses a valid Driver's License & clean driving record, and can drive company
vehicles safely within the five county area

● Maintains good physical fitness and can withstand expected environmental conditions
● Willingness to assist in sporadic service calls during the winter off-season
● Eager to teach & engage other staff members through the sharing of knowledge
● Uses growing base of trade knowledge and project goals to help prioritize the work day
for themselves and others
● Happily adheres to direction given by supervisory and management staff
● Arrives on time, prepared and dressed professionally
Schedule & Compensation: - - - - - -
40 hours per week Monday–Friday, seasonally April - mid-December.
Occasional overtime may be required or offered.
