We are a small concrete polishing/flooring contractor looking to immediatly hire an individual with a mechanical mindest. The equipment used in our field of work varries and the environment it is used can be harsh on them.
Essential Job Functions:
Interprets company policies and practice/enforce safety regulations
Recommends and implements measures to improve equipment performance and increase efficiency of work
Engaged in moving, storing and loading or unloading of materials and equipment
Maintains a clean and organized shop environment
Service, repair, and maintain all company vehicles, equipment, and hand tools. Including electrical, hydraulic, and
mechanical repairs.
Orders parts and supplies for shop
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
Maintain current knowledge of Department of Transportation updates and changes
General building maintenance and servicing
Diagnose and repair components, electrical and fuel systems, etc. for various powered and rolling equipment such as trucks and generators
Efficient on a computer: Microsoft Word, Excel and Email
We are looking for someone who has a willingness to make decissions with sound and accurate judgement. Being able to adapt to rapid changes, analyze, and resolve work problems are good characteristics for this position.
Job Requirements:
Maintain a valid DOT Medical Card
High school Diploma, GED or equivalent
Must have your own set of general hand tools and must have general knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
Capable to add, subtract, multiply, divide and other basic mathematical concepts
Ability to read, write, understand and speak English
Desired- AAS Degree in Automotive Service and Equipment Technology or 2-year Certificate from Vocational Education Program
Desired- 2+ years’ experience in a heavy, medium or light mechanical environment with welding knowledge
Physical Requirements:
Lift up to 30lbs frequently, 50lbs occasionally and 100lbs rarely
Walk, stand, bend, twist/turn, kneel, crouch, sit and reach overhead regularly
Regularly exposed to extreme weather conditions indoor and outdoor
Operate vehicles, manual pallet jack, forklift, power washers, generators, and ride-on scrubbers, and utilize torch, plasma cutter, and welding equipment.
Maintain a small fleet of straight trucks
Maintain a small fleet of medium trucks
Maintain miscellaneous open and enclosed trailers
Small engine repair – Gas and Propane
Large and small generators
Maintain building and grounds – plus bulk fuel
Maintain a large variety of concrete grinding equipment – large and small grinders and polishers, joint filling machines, crack chasing saws
Maintain a large variety of ride-on and walk-behind floor scrubbers (electric and propane), burnishers (electric and propane), hand-operated rotary scrubbers
Competent in electrical 12-volt, 110-volt, 240-volt
Hydraulic repair skills a plus
Competent in computer skills
Record keeping skills/Organization
Learn resources for parts, supplies, and tech support
Class B CDL required (or obtained within reasonable time after hire)
Having a MN Commercial Vehicle inspection certification is desirable
