Description We are seeking a Project Accountant to join our team located in New Brighton, Minnesota. This role offers a long-term contract employment opportunity within the service industry. As a Project Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include supporting the program, engaging with various stakeholders across the organization, and ensuring that projects remain within budget and financially healthy.Responsibilities: Oversee accounting activities and budget within the program and respective workstreams to maintain financial health. Accurately record financial transactions, both recognized and forecasted. Direct budget and forecast preparation and maintenance throughout the program, with the ability to report on budget variances and trends. Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements required by various levels of the program. Ensure all costs incurred are properly coded as either expense or capitalized in accordance with US GAAP. Establish and maintain internal control procedures to ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies. Advise workstream leaders, program leaders, and other stakeholders on budgetary rules as well as best practices for costing and allocations. Evaluate key assumptions within or related to program business cases to effectively flag potential risks and opportunities. Develop and evolve processes and tools for identifying and tracking value. Assess financial risks and implement risk mitigation strategies. Provide mentorship and coaching to team members as needed.Requirements Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Project Accountant role or similar position. Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems. Demonstrated knowledge of Accounting Functions. Experience in Auditing. Proven skills in Budget Management and monitoring. Experience in preparing and managing Expense Budgets and Operating Budgets. Knowledge of Capitalization and Expense Allocation principles. Ability to conduct detailed Expense Analysis. Experience in Expense Management. Familiarity with Project Budgets, Project Change Control, and Project Accounting. Ability to exert control over Project Finances. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
