This position exists to administer and coordinate the Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) Program among various MPCA programs. The Coordinator directs activities to ensure and track compliance with all state and federal quality requirements that govern the collection, analysis and reporting of data to MPCA including laboratory auditing and data review. The Coordinator is responsible for providing guidance and making recommendations regarding data quality to MPCA programs. This position provides guidance on various analytical methods and represents MPCA on issues involving analytical analysis. The Coordinator leads and/or assists in the review and approval of Quality Management Plans, Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and other quality documentation.Minimum QualificationsA Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or related science and two years of advanced professional level experience with duties involving laboratory data collection (including developing data quality objectives and the ability to critically review data) and demonstrated experience working with Quality Assurance (planning, overseeing, and executing quality assurance project plans and other documentation). Advanced professional-level experience is equivalent to Senior Environmental Specialist/Environmental Specialist 3 level work.Good communication skills, interpersonal skills, collaboration skills, and planning/organization skills sufficient to perform senior-level professional work.Possess a valid Driver's license (see additional requirements).The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will not sponsor applicants for work visas. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated work experience with:Developing and implementing quality assurance program plans (QAPPs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and data quality objectives (DQOs).Knowledge of:Environmental monitoring programs and regulations.Environmental sampling and analysis methods.Laboratory methods such as GC-MS, GC-FID, LC-MS, ICP-AES, and ICP-MS.Statistical analysis of data.Ability to:Plan and coordinate quality assurance project plans.Critically review analytical or monitoring data and reports, make assessments, and provide recommendations.Effectively lead, mentor, and serve as a team member.Skilled in:Data and project management.Physical RequirementsRequires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders and boxes, tools, or heavier materials with help from others and/or moving light objects frequently. A job in this category may require maintaining a stationary position to a significant degree or may involve a certain amount of moving necessary in carrying out job duties.Additional RequirementsA driver’s license is an essential function of this position. This requires possession of an unrestricted Class D Driver’s License. The job offer is contingent on confirmation of a valid driver’s license AND a satisfactory DLR check. Requires a Class D Driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license.
