Sales Engineer

The Sales Engineer (SE) is responsible for understanding the needs of our: industry, customers, their designs and products, and Nextern’s internal capabilities. The SE will identify customers, coordinate meetings, develop relationships, and collaborate on projects. The SE will be considered the Nextern industry and customer subject matter expert in the assigned product family/category with the capability to share their key knowledge with internal team members.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops and manage a pipeline of sales opportunities for the metals division.

Prepares weekly and monthly reports on pipeline targets.

Provide customer feedback to internal engineering team to develop and improve or add manufacturing processes and capabilities.

Work with customer service on continual improvement in the areas of quote process efficiency, quote on time delivery, and quote accuracy.

Generates and maintains product costing models for assigned opportunities.

Assists technical inputs for incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action.

Performs contract review of final agreements, (PO, Supply Agreement, quality requirements) prior to program execution, for any changes in product or project scope or cost.

Manage quarterly business reviews with key customers.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Drives, implements, and continuously improves a disciplined Sales Engineering process that includes: market familiarity, lead generation, pipeline management, & forecasting.

Increase in active participation in customer meetings, both new project development and existing project changes or issue resolution.

Understand customer product requirements as they relate to our manufacturing process and inspection methodologies.

Timeliness of project proposals, including quotations, timelines, and project requirements.

RequirementsEDUCATION AND/ OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Mechanical)

Minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary and of generally accepted office practices, procedures, and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Self-directed, independent, highly organized and can work with minimal direct supervision

Ability to analyze, understand, and effectively communicate technical material.

Strong understanding of the medical device industry and/ or contract manufacturing industry

Proficient with Microsoft Office including: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Ability to represent Nextern at professional and business functions.

Physical Requirements:

Occasional Travel

Long period of sitting with occasional standing and walking.

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
