Root River Hardwoods in Preston, MN is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various heavy trucks and equipment. As a Diesel Mechanic, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform repairs on diesel engines and overall vehicle, ensuring optimal functionality
Execute routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize engine performance
Run diagnostic tests to accurately identify issues and determine repair strategies
Perform troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications
Perform braking, electrical, and transmission maintenance and repairs
Perform DOT inspections for company vehicles (training provided)
Promptly reply to truck drivers to troubleshoot problems with in the field
Occasionally perform repairs in field
Other duties as required
Qualifications:
2 years experience as a Diesel Mechanic/Technician or similar
Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. CDL preferred, but not required
Able to work independently
Strong attention to detail
Able to read, speak, and comprehend instructions in English
Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulations 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed
Ability to be subjected to long periods of sitting, bending, and kneeling
Able to lift up to 70 pounds
Work environment will be a combination of both indoors and outdoors
