Description We are partnering with a leading municipal law firm serving local government entities across the Twin Cities metro to hire an Associate Attorney. This is an ideal position for an attorney with 2+ years of experience (in municipal law, land use, public contracts, or civil litigation) who is looking to transition into municipal law or make a lateral move.The firm offers profit sharing, mentorship, a low billable hour target, and the opportunity to work with cities and townships on a wide range of legal matters.Key Responsibilities:
Advise municipal clients on a broad range of legal matters, including zoning and land use, employment law, economic development, litigation, and public improvements.
Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and policy documents.
Attend & provide legal counsel at city council meetings, planning commission sessions, and other governmental meetings.
Requirements
-J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in MN.-Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.-Minimum 2+ years of relevant/transferable experience, such as:
Municipal law (private practice OR city attorney/assistant city attorney experience highly preferred).
Land use & zoning.
Public contracts & procurement.
Litigation involving governmental entities.
