Contract/Freelance Project Description United Language Group is seeking fluent bilingual speakers as Independent Contractors for on-demand and pre-scheduled over-the-phone interpretations for Hmong The Interpreter must have a strong command of English and Hmong. They must follow the professional Code of Ethics as outlined by IMIA and NCIHC. Essential Duties + Responsibilities: Interpret between English and Hmong languages. Maintain the appropriate tone of voice, register and observe cultural nuances Maintain professionalism through attitude, and interpreting service Demonstrate excellent customer service skills Must have a reliable phone line and an adequate work environment to process the calls. Remote (work-from-home) Qualifications: Proficient in English and Hmong languages Strong knowledge of professional Code of Ethics and privacy laws (HIPAA) Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to remain calm and compassionate when dealing with difficult people and crisis situations Flexible availability Preferred Qualifications: NBCMI or CCHI certification is preferred Completion of a healthcare interpretation program or at least 2 years of consistent medical interpretation experience Minimum (6) six months experience of over-the-phone interpretation Equal Employment Opportunity United Language Group is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
