The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent may be expected to work in the office on occasion.This position will perform the role of design and construction project manager for State of Minnesota, Department of Transportation Building Services Section facility construction projects. Provide project leadership for statewide projects while working with MnDOT District staff, internal and external architects/engineers, construction contractors, and other project team members and stakeholders from the beginning of each project through completion, including scoping and programming, design, bidding and procurement, construction, and post-construction phases.Minimum QualificationsThree years of advanced professional experience overseeing complex building construction projectsAND experience must be in the following bulleted areas below:NOTE: Bachelor's degree in construction management, construction science, architecture, or engineering will substitute for 6 months of advanced professional work experience)
Advanced experience with architectural, engineering, or construction project management of commercial or industrial building projects that include architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
NOTE - This experience must emphasize varied institutional, industrial, or commercial facilities design and construction project management, rather than residential or civil, and must include all five phases of construction project management: pre-design, design, procurement, construction, and post occupancy .
Experience with “responsible-in charge” construction project management experience.
Experience with construction and construction project management principles, practices, standards and methods sufficient to lead multiple complex new construction, addition, renovation, remodeling, and repair/replacement projects simultaneously.
Experience with architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical systems and standards sufficient to evaluate project plans and deliverables; direct professional staff on changes and modifications; and verify compliance with customer/user requirements.
Experience with cost management and budgeting principles and practices associated with construction project management sufficient to ensure that consultants, contractors, suppliers and vendors provide fair value services and materials.
Experience with building and construction practices sufficient to determine, communicate and translate directives and functions to project architects, engineers and other building specialists; contractors; suppliers; vendors; and other stakeholders.
International Building Code (as adopted by the State of Minnesota).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience overseeing building construction projects at a cost value of $4,000,0000 or higher.
Five years or more of responsible-in charge construction project management experience.
Project management experience with sustainably designed projects, preferably with B3 project experience.
