Metrology Specialists are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and precision of measurement processes and equipment within the organization by developing and administering company-wide metrology programs. Metrology Specialists also play a crucial role in maintaining quality standards, ensuring compliance with regulations, and enhancing operational efficiency through expertise in metrology.Job Duties/Responsibilities/Tasks:?
Develop and evaluate metrology systems that measure characteristics of objects and chemicals.
Develop calibration methods and techniques based on scientific measurement principles, technical analysis of measurement problems, customer and industry expectations and accuracy and precision requirements.
Perform calibration, adjustment, and maintenance of measurement instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Develop and implement metrology procedures, standards, and best practices to optimize measurement processes and ensure adherence to industry standards.
Conduct quality assessments and inspections to verify the accuracy of measurement results and identify opportunities for improvement.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of calibration activities, measurement data, and equipment history.
Generate reports and analyses to communicate findings and recommendations.
Provide training and technical support to personnel involved in measurement activities, ensuring compliance with metrology protocols and standards.
Stay updated on relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines governing metrology and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance metrology processes, reduce measurement uncertainty, and increase efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development, testing, and production activities.
Education and Experience Requirements?
Associates degree in a relevant technical field and 8+ years of related experience or
Bachelors degree in Metrology, Engineering, Physics, or a related field and 4+ years of related experience or
Masters degree in relevant technical field or?
Minimum 12 years of experience in metrology or a related field or
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification(s) in metrology (e.g., CMSC, ASQ-CQT) preferred.
