One Data Streaming Platform.Data Connects Us.About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the development and evolution of Kafka Streams and Java clients. This role is critical for driving the design, development, and delivery of high-performance, scalable, and resilient streaming and client-side technologies. As an Engineering Manager, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Architecture, and Operations, to enable real-time data processing and client-facing APIs that empower users to harness the power of Apache Kafka.What You Will Do:

Lead and mentor a team of talented software engineers, providing guidance, coaching, and support for their technical and career growth.

Collaborate with product management, design, and other engineering teams to define product roadmap and technical strategy.

Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables for Kafka Streams and Java clients initiatives.

Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including giving talks, writing technical blogs, and contributing to the Kafka community where necessary.

Foster a strong community around our open-sourced tools, actively engaging with developers to prioritize feature requests, bug fixes, and contributions.

Work with engineering teams and products on critical aspects of product definition, architectural design, and delivery.Influence the overall domain health and operational hygiene for the Cloud Platform.

Champion engineering excellence through process improvement and technical leadership.

Measure and analyze team and product performance to identify opportunities for improvement.

What You Will Bring:

Minimum of 8+ years of software development with 3+ years of management experience.

Experience in building and designing resilient systems at scale using hyperscale CSPs (AWS, Azure, GCP), with a proven track record of “seeing around corners” to reduce complexity and create critical enduring technical foundations.

Technical expertise in large scale systems engineering or distributed systems.

Ability to influence the team, peers, and upper management using effective communication and collaborative techniques. Ability to hire while ensuring a high hiring bar, keep engineers motivated, coach/mentor, and handle performance managementAn excellent track record of timely shipping features, a sense of urgency, an aggressive mindset toward achieving results, and excellent prioritization skills.

Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

This position has an annual estimated salary of $211,770 - $230,310, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package.
