Find your future with us.The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Mid-Level Spacecraft Operations Systems Engineer to join our team in Springfield, Virginia.The candidate will work at a spacecraft ground station and lead a Mission Operations team. The Command and Control Engineering team is responsible for all aspects of spacecraft operations and maintenance. This position requires candidate to serve in a team lead or technical project leadership role which may require program specific certifications pre-start.Position Responsibilities :
Responsible for all aspects of spacecraft operations, mission planning and/or monitoring and trending the on-orbit spacecraft telemetry looking for adverse trends that could affect operations, as well as planning and execution of all required spacecraft maintenance and recovery from spacecraft anomalies.
Coordinate with management and peers to ensure the integrity of high-quality operational products, including procedures, tools, detailed event logging, and system configuration.
Analyze technical data, verify and sustain specific systems configuration in accordance with defined constraints and operational requirements.
Mentor trainees to complete training and certification, includes providing training opportunities and oversight.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.Work Authorization:This position requires an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance, with CI Poly Pre-Start Counter-Intelligence polygraph . (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
2+ years’ experience in an engineering management or technical lead role
3 years or more experience working on satellite ground/spacecraft systems
Completed CI Polygraph
Ability to complete a certification program. Will be provided specialized training (combination self-study, in-class training, and on-the-job (OTJ) training) in order to complete the necessary certifications required for this position.
Willing to work variable shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience working with and/or directly supporting the Double Eagle Program
Experience planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring of requirements management processes
Experience resolving cross-functional technical issues
Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD + 0 years' related work experience, Master + 3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Relocation :Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
