Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:Position Purpose: The Surgical Scheduling Coordinator completely arranges the logistics of patient surgeries and procedures. Serves as a liaison between patients and medical staff/providers throughout the entire process, including pre-operative testing, authorizations for health insurance, the procedure itself, and follow-up appointments. Communicates with patients and their families to ensure they are well informed and prepared. Will also take on miscellaneous clerical/administrative tasks such as answering emails, in-basket messages, taking phone calls and requesting/verifying patient medical records.What you will do:
Schedules all inpatient, outpatient and office admissions from onsite and drug loading. Ensures time is scheduled, blocked off and available Communicates effectively (written and verbal) with colleagues, patients and family members
Works in conjunction with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to schedule and enter case requests for procedures if needed. Ensures patients have all required pre-op testing done prior to procedures, i.e. required labs and other testing such as MRI, TEE.
Obtains complex prior authorizations for each procedure, and testing and drug loading that is scheduled for each provider. This requires extensive knowledge of each carrier policy and familiarity of each specific procedure. Continuous education and learning required to keep current and up-to-date on policy/procedure changes.
Works closely with Insurance representatives to ensure procedures and testing are approved for authorization which requires providing all necessary medical documentation to support medical necessity

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of three (3) yrs prior experience scheduling specialty procedures.
