Schedule

· Full-time

· Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

· Half-hour break from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM

Qualifications: Must have

· A degree/certification in nutrition or a related field (e.g., dietetics, Bachelor of Science or Master of Biology, Biochemistry, Naturopathy)

· Microsoft Office skills (i.e., Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Responsibilities

· This role requires an outgoing personality and passion for sharing nutrition knowledge and inspiring people to act and achieve their health goals.

· You’ll wear many hats while working in a fast-paced nonprofit setting, conducting classes, private coaching sessions, community outreach, and writing articles, blurbs, and social media postings. As LIFTT’s nutrition professional, you will act as an educational resource, providing science-based nutrition education/training to LIFTT’s team members, our consumers, and the communities of LIFTT’s service area.

· Through providing nutrition education and helping people understand why their food choices matter, you will help LIFTT play an essential role in diabetes prevention and management.

Job description

· Acts as the nutrition education resource for LIFTT’s consumers and communities of LIFTT’s service area,

· Provides customer service on every aspect of their nutrition and independent living, aiming to prevent and manage diabetes.

· Assists consumers with building a daily menu, controlling calorie intake, understanding scientific concepts like glycemic level product purchasing, providing education resources, etc., by doing the following:

1) Maintaining literature files

2) Distributing literature

3) Identifying sources of information

4) Establishing a relationship with the CDC, state Department of Public Health and Human Services – DPHHS, county and local health departments

5) Coordinate with all LIFTT’s teams, programs, and management.

6) Maintaining a bookstore and offer products to consumers and program participants.

7) Establishing partnerships with strategic partners such as hospitals, clinics, physicians, pharmacies, schools, etc.

8) Working to build community relationships (practitioner partners for referrals, Guest presenters, event partners, etc.)

9) Assisting with merchandising LIFTT’s Diabetes Prevention and Management Program.

10) Providing nutrition education collectively and individually on a needed basis.

11) Offering nutrition and recipe demonstration classes, which will be recorded on video for social media posting.

12) Offering outreach nutrition classes.

13) Providing regular training to LIFTT’s team.

14) Maintaining a concrete and digital Wellness Board.

15) Motivating and encouraging consumers and Team members to participate in Nutrition Challenges.

16) Responding to questions and reviewing summaries.

17) Holding a digital nutrition hour on Microsoft Teams or Zoom,

18) Providing private individual one-on-one health coaching sessions.

19) Seeking outreach opportunities (to provide nutrition education and build nutrition awareness).

20) Maintaining Continued Education (CE) requirements.

21) Reading and reviewing research.

22) Completing CE assignments.

23) Assisting management with coordinating, organizing, and executing company wide events

The Nutrition Health Coach will be responsible for the following:

· Printing materials used in classes, outreach, and coaching sessions.

· Placing orders for nutrition education supplies.

· Providing training to Team members on promoting LIFTT’s Diabetes Prevention and Management services and events.

· Attending Team meetings

· Acting as an event ambassador.

· Conceive and implement a LIFTT’s Health and Wellness Program in which all people should be empowered to experience health and well being.

Although this is a general outline of job responsibilities, all employees are expected to be “hands-on” and do whatever it takes to get the job done and make LIFTT thrive.
