We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Cemetery Office Assistant to provide administrative support while assisting families during their time of need. This role requires excellent communication skills, organizational ability, and a strong sense of empathy. The Cemetery Office Assistant will handle a variety of office duties, coordinate with families to plan services, and maintain accurate records to ensure smooth operations within the cemetery.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
o Greet and assist families visiting the cemetery office. Provide information on cemetery services, available plots, and memorial options.
o Handle inquiries via phone, email, and in-person, addressing any concerns or questions related to cemetery services, scheduling, and policies.
o Coordinate meetings with families to discuss arrangements for burials, memorial services, and other funeral-related needs.
Administrative Support:
o Maintain and update cemetery records, ensuring all documents are completed accurately (e.g., burial plots, contracts, payment records).
o Prepare and process paperwork for interments, memorial services, and related administrative duties.
o Handle scheduling for services, staff, and resources (e.g., grave preparation, cemetery maintenance) in coordination with the management team.
Record Keeping:
o Ensure all documents are stored properly, maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
o Track plot sales, memorial purchases, and other transactions, ensuring all records are accurately entered into the database.
Communication:
o Act as the liaison between families and cemetery staff, ensuring clear communication regarding funeral service details, dates, and requirements.
o Follow up with families to confirm service details and offer support as needed.
Billing and Payments:
o Process payments for burial plots, memorial products, and other cemetery services.
o Issue receipts, invoices, and assist with financial record-keeping as directed by management.
Other Duties:
o Assist with cemetery maintenance scheduling and resource management as needed.
o Support cemetery staff with other operational needs, including organizing files, managing inventory of memorial products, and coordinating events.
o Handle special projects related to community outreach or cemetery events.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
o High school diploma or equivalent (required).
o Previous experience in a customer service or administrative role (preferably in a funeral home, cemetery, or healthcare setting) is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
o Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
o Excellent organizational and time management skills.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
o Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite)
Physical Requirements:
o Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods, lift urns and memorials up to 20 lbs, and occasionally walk around the cemetery grounds.

o Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Benefits:
Part-time Flex hours Monday – Friday (occasion Saturday) 20 hours
Starting Pay: $17.50 DOE
