Position Overview:
We are currently seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our team as Baristas. The ideal candidates will possess a deep appreciation for coffee, craft beer and wine, and excellent customer service skills. Whether creating the perfect cappuccino or mixing up a specialty mimosa, baristas at Jam are key ambassadors of our brand and play an integral role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for our guests.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and serve espresso drinks and a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including beer and wine with precision and attention to detail.
2. Welcome guests warmly, engage with them in a friendly and professional manner, and provide attentive service throughout their visit.
3. Demonstrate expertise in coffee drinks, beer, and wine offerings, providing recommendations and guidance to guests based on their preferences and menu selections.
4. Mix and garnish alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and presentation standards, ensuring consistency and quality with each drink.
5. Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including proper storage and rotation of expresso, beer, wine, and garnishes.
6. Monitor and control inventory levels, restocking supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations.
7. Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently, processing payments and reconciling cash drawers at the end of each shift.
8. Uphold responsible alcohol service practices, including checking identification, monitoring guest intoxication levels, and refusing service when necessary.
9. Collaborate with servers, managers, and other team members to ensure seamless communication and coordination of food and beverage service.
10. Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling of food, glassware, utensils, and equipment.
11. Stay informed about current beverage trends, new products, and industry developments, and share knowledge with colleagues and guests.
12. Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner, striving to resolve issues to the satisfaction of the guest and the company.
Qualifications:
1. Previous experience as a barista in a high-volume coffeehouse or restaurant setting is preferred but not required.
2. Strong knowledge of coffee, beer, and wine.
3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with guests and colleagues in a positive and professional manner.
4. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, multitasking and prioritizing tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
5. TIPS (Training for Intervention ProcedureS) certification is preferred but can be obtained after hire.
6. Availability to work days, weekends, and holidays as needed.
