Organization Overview:

The Livingston Food Resource Center (LFRC) is an innovative, community-driven food pantry and community kitchen located in downtown Livingston. The LFRC distributes nutritious food to an average of more than 700 individuals, or approximately 10% of Livingston's population, every month. In addition to making nutritious, locally sourced food available to all, our programs are designed to help people living in poverty lead healthier, more productive lives. The LFRC also operates the Livingston Community Bakery, which sells delicious baked goods to the public while providing fresh, organic whole-wheat bread to our and other Montana food pantries.

Kids Summer Lunch Program Overview:

Provides a free, nutritious lunch to all Livingston school-age children in need. Many of the children served receive free and reduced meals during the school year but face food insufficiency during the summer when school meals are not available. The service is provided Monday through Friday, June through August, and serves an average of 65 children per day in Livingston’s Sacajawea Park, Katie Bonnell Park, and Green Acres Park.

Job Description and Duties:

The Summer Lunch Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Program:

-Pick up fresh fruits and vegetables from Park High and deliver them to the Food Resource Center on Monday mornings

-Communicate with Program Coordinator about supply, reporting and volunteer needs

-Track and maintain inventory for each lunch site

-Prepare coolers, supply bins, lunch trays and compost pails each morning

-Supervise and assist volunteers in preparing fruits, vegetables and sandwiches for each lunch site

-Communicate with Kitchen Manager about their weekly “hot dish” menu and discuss equipment needed to serve each meal properly

-Supervise and help volunteers clean up prep area

-Load vehicles and transport lunches and equipment to and from the LFRC and our 3 lunch sites (this can vary depending on volunteer support)

-Set up and break down lunch site(s)

-Serve lunch from 11:30 AM-12:30 PM, with the assistance of volunteers

-Maintain adequate records of children served, number of servings, nutritional information required by the state, hours served, volunteers present, and any activities offered at each lunch site

-Turn in records on time on a monthly basis

-Unload truck, wash all dishes and equipment used in preparation and serving of lunches

-Keep a friendly attitude with customers and volunteers

-Work with and support summer lunch volunteers

Qualifications:

-Must be a U.S. citizen or have appropriate documentation of immigration

-Must be available to work from 8:30AM-2:30PM on Mondays and 9AM-3PM Tuesday - Friday, as needed throughout t-the summer program

-Is able to commit 25 to 30 hours per week

-Works well with volunteers in a leadership role

-Works well under pressure (time/space)

-Punctual, professional, reliable

-Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and the ability to drive the organization's vehicle. Transportation of food from the LFRC to the serving sites is a mandatory aspect of the job

-Ability to maintain good personal hygiene and wear suitable clothing for work in the community

-Strong organization skills and detail-oriented

-Self-motivation and the ability to work independently, while also functioning as a team player

Working Conditions:

The job will be split between the LFRC and the lunch sites. The morning will be spent doing prep in the kitchen and loading the truck. The kitchen is a commercial grade kitchen and will have several cooks working on different projects. The late morning and early afternoon will be spent outside serving lunch (1.5 hours), in the sun, wind, or rain. Records will be maintained in the office space of the LRFC (computer provided, unless you would prefer to use your own).

Physical Requirements:

The candidate should be able to stand and move around for about six hours straight and be able to lift 35+ pounds.

Compensation:

This is a part-time position, Monday:8:30AM to 2:30PM and 9AM-3PM Tuesday through Friday.

Pay based on experience, starting at $18 an hour.
