We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Excavation Laborer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will assist in various excavation projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards. This role involves physical labor, including digging, lifting, and carrying materials, without the use of heavy machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
Manual Digging: Perform manual digging and trenching using hand tools such as shovels, picks, and spades.
Site Preparation: Assist in preparing job sites, including marking out areas for excavation, clearing debris, and ensuring the site is safe and secure.
Material Handling: Load and unload materials and equipment, and transport them around the job site as needed.
Trench Support: Install and remove trench support systems such as shoring and bracing.
Pipe Laying: Assist in the installation of underground utilities, such as water, sewer, and storm drain pipes.
Site Clean-Up: Maintain a clean and organized job site by removing waste, debris, and hazardous materials.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, using personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting any safety concerns to the supervisor.
Assistance to Skilled Workers: Support skilled tradesmen such as masons, carpenters, and electricians as required.
Weather Conditions: Work outdoors in various weather conditions, ensuring that tasks are completed despite environmental challenges.
Qualifications:
Experience: Previous experience in construction or excavation is preferred but not required.
Physical Stamina: Must be physically fit and capable of performing strenuous labor over extended periods.
Knowledge: Basic understanding of construction and excavation practices.
Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and willingness to adhere to them.
Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team and assist co-workers as needed.
Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends when necessary.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
Capable of working in a crouched or kneeling position for extended periods.
Comfortable working in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods on uneven terrain.
