We are seeking someone to be our weekend baby goat caretaker.
Required Skills/Abilities:
-Will train on job, no experience necessary for the right person.
-Ability to work with animals and to remain calm in strenuous circumstances.
-Excellent problem-solving skills.
-Ability and initiative, working with minimal supervision and direction.
-Reliable transportation.
-Must be able to treat animals and coworkers with respect and contribute to teamwork.
-Familiarity with animals, knowledge of animal behavior a plus.
Jobs include:
-Checking herd for newborn goats.
-Monitoring, birthing and assisting goats during kidding and caretaking kids.
-Collecting, moving, assessing, recording and maintaining kids.
-Assessing animals for illness or injury.
-Make sure all animals have sufficient food and water.
-Hoof trim and hand milking often required.
Physical Requirements:
-Physical ability to walk and/or stand on your feet throughout a normal workday required.
-Physical ability to engage in repetitive motions.
-Physical ability to push up to 150 pounds and carry up to 50 pounds regularly throughout a normal workday required
-Allergic conditions, which would be aggravated when handling or working with animals, hay, or grains, may be a disqualification.
-Working conditions include working alone, working outside in varying weather conditions, frequent interruptions, and some variance in days depending on goats' needs.
