Art Handler, Installer, Shipping and operations Manager We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Gallery Operations and Shipping Manager to oversee the efficient and timely flow of art from and to our gallery to artists and clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of shipping and logistics, maintenance of the space and record keeping of artworks including:
Shipping and Receiving: Coordinate the shipping and receiving of artworks, ensuring proper documentation and handling. Including unpacking incoming art, documenting condition and inspecting for damage, Photographing artwork details and videos
Coordinating with carriers to arrange shipments
Assisting with Tracking shipments and resolving any issues
Preparing shipping documents and labels
Ensuring compliance with gallery shipping guidelines and regulations
Proper packing of artworks to be shipped
Implementing and improving shipping processes
Handle artworks with the utmost care, adhering to best practices for packing, transporting, and storing art.
Art openings bar tending
Some travel to transport art. Drivers license and ability to drive a box truck essential
Installation and De-installation: Carefully and professionally install and de-install artworks for exhibitions, ensuring the safety and security of the pieces.
Installation of a wide range of artworks and environments
Assist in preparing gallery spaces for exhibitions, including painting, patching, and lighting adjustments.
Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of artwork inventory and condition reports.
Entering and Maintaining inventory records into the system
Coordinating logistics of artwork between galleries
Managing inventory and storage of artwork
Overseeing the cleanliness and organization of the gallery
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of shipping and logistics, as well as experience in art handling, techniques, installation practices, and a passion for contemporary art.
