Job Responsibilities
Meals-on-Wheels/Noon Meal/Occasional Evening Meals (5 times a year)
Plan attractive, nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet nutritional guidelines and budget constraints
Plan & implement special themed meals (food based on other cultures, for example)
Menu Planning for Congregate, Meals-on-Wheels & Daycare based on USDA recommended dietary allowances for seniors (Monthly Menu is due by the 5th of each month)
Coordinate & implement food preparations for Meals-on-Wheels clients (ave. 90/day)
Assist in packaging Meals-on-Wheels food (at 10am)
Coordinate & implement food preparations for noon meal (ave. 70/day)
Large dinner events: Responsible for food preparations for up to 300 people
Assist in kitchen staff supervision / encourage team work / consistent & efficient communication
Assist in grocery orders: Sysco, Costco, T&C, US Foods
Coordinate the packaging of frozen meals for Meals-on-Wheels weekend meals, holiday meals & bulk frozen
Assist in supervision with kitchen maintenance: freezers, storage areas, cabinets, sinks, etc.
Work together in coordinating daily/weekly/monthly cleaning
Assist in dishwashing (when needed)
Be the example of food safety & sanitation procedures
Assure food safety & sanitation procedures are being followed, each day
Assist in on-going training for all staff & volunteers
Supervise on dating food items in fridges & freezers
Develop & record a regular cleaning schedule
Responsible for finding a sub when part-time employees are sick/on vacation
Teamwork is vital
