JOB OBJECTIVE:

To obtain the necessary field experience to grow in the daily operation of our projects allowing personal growth to become self-sufficient in project management and estimating. Assisting the department so that it meets the goals and obligations in the areas of:

Safety

Profit

Quality

Service

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Office Engineer (As Assigned):

Assist in estimating small and large scale projects.

Learning and practicing CPH estimating systems.

Learn and assist in computer take-off software.

Assist in tracking historical data for future estimates.

Assisting in reviewing contract in regards to risk, price and scope of work.

Assist in writing contracts to sub-contractors.

Assist in material purchasing.

Assist in material tracking.

Assist submittals.

Assist in daily tasks as required including timecards, purchase orders, quantity verification.

Assist in Pre-planning project (project manual, pre-construction meetings, foremans manuals, buy-out of equipment and materials, permits).

Assist in Contract drawings and specification interpretation.

Create and submit Operation and maintenance manuals.

Assist in Customer service and development.

Learn to market, maintain and develop relationships with customers (owners, general contractors, architects and engineers).

Assisting in ensuring company procedures, standards and expectations are maintained

Assist in obtaining any local, state and/or federal permits related to the project

Assist each inner company department as needed

Field Engineer (As Assigned):

Assist the project foreman, superintendent and project manager with various assigned task

Aid in layout of projects

Contribute to the job site activities as directed by the project foreman, superintendent and project manager

As required, maintain daily documentation

Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the safety and quality of the project

Assisting in submittal and shop drawing review as assigned

Assisting in inspecting and/or verifying material deliveries.

Learn to coordinate multiple activities

Learn to effectively carry out and install various scopes of work

Assist each inner company department as needed

Personal Skills:

Participate in the career development and growth to become self-sufficient.

Continuing education.

Maintain a relationship with all the office staff and field technicians.

Work with suppliers / wholesalers to improve their service and better meet our needs so that our own production may be increased.

Learn all aspects of the field and office to allow for future growth in project management and estimating.

Accounting Skills:

Assist in reviewing and monitoring job cost and labor management.

Become familiar with our current operating software (Timberline) program.

Assist in Change order interpretation, pricing and billing.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited college

Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications

Positive attitude

Time management and organizational skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office programs

INTERPERSONAL AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

The Project Engineer should be a good multi-tasker. This person must be willing and able to faithfully execute all the duties and responsibilities that are outlined in this Position Description, including adherence to all company policies and procedures.

The Project Engineer must have a strong background and experience in telephone skills, office administrative skills and customer service.

The position requires a self-actuating, detailed-oriented person who can initiate and participate as a team player with a top focus on customer service. The administrator must possess strong interpersonal skills and can work independently, meet deadlines, coordinate operational requirements and achieve departmental goals.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Travel Demand:

When assigned to an out of town job, assignments will require temporary living quarters for prolonged periods of time.

Working Conditions:

Must work in all weather conditions and be prepared for both extreme heat and cold

May at times be exposed to substances or environments and must take necessary precautions to protect body and its extremities.

Must be able to work independently and maintain a schedule of work.

Body Position:

Regularly requires lifting in excess of 75 lbs and daily walking.

Can be physically strenuous and demanding

Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time on a repetitive basis.

Body Movements:

The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and use computer equipment and be capable of bending, reaching and crouching. Requires the ability to negotiate around a crowded office and walk up and down stairways.

WORK HOURS:

(Office Engineer) Normal work hours will be Monday thru Thursday “ 7:00 AM thru 5:00 PM. 7:00 AM - 11:00a.m. on Friday. Lunch hour will be 12:00 to 1:00 PM each day.
