BRIDGERCARE DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Position Title: Patient Coordinator

Status: Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY

The Patient Coordinator provides patient support functions in the front office to support Bridgercares mission according to Title X guidelines. The Patient Coordinator is under the direct supervision of the Office Manager and Clinical Coordinator.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Clerical Duties

ïƒ Answer phones; distribute clinic information to help clients access needed services. Direct calls to appropriate recipients and take accurate messages.

ïƒ Accurately enter patient demographic, billing, and clinical intake notes into electronic patient management systems.

ïƒ Communicate with insurance companies to obtain benefit information for patient visits, assist billing department with medical claim billing as needed.

ïƒ Participate in rotation of daily cash reconciliation and deposit preparation.

ïƒ Clearly communicate with patients about fees, sliding scale, payment arrangements, and requests for donations. Referral of questions as needed to appropriate department.

ïƒ Manage record requests, mail sorting, patient voicemail and patient birth control refill requests.

ïƒ Perform financial intake of patients, including income assessment, fee level assignment, and verification of income and explanation of same to clients per Title X requirements.

ïƒ Other clinical support tasks as assigned by Administration.

ïƒ Participate in staff meetings and training as scheduled.

ïƒ Communicate effectively orally and in writing, proficiency in computers required.

ïƒ Coordinate and work cooperatively with fellow staff as well as independently.

ïƒ Comfortably, respectfully discuss sensitive issues with clients, including patient care circumstances for purposes of scheduling and triage, and assessment of patient income for sliding fees.

ïƒ Other support tasks as assigned by Administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

ïƒ High School graduate

ïƒ Preferred expertise and recent experience healthcare.

ïƒ Commitment to family planning philosophy and goals, including: confidentiality, provision of service to women, men, and teens regardless of ability to pay, and comprehensive options counseling for unintended pregnancy and referral per Title X guidelines.
