We are looking for someone with embroidery or sewing experience to help us keep up with incoming orders. This position would work with our full time alterations professional to learn all the nuances of our customers uniform specs. We sell uniforms to Law Enforcement, Fire Departments, Medical professionals, as well as other uniformed industries like: construction, military, security, EMS, mechanics, and restaurant staff. We will teach the right candidate how to embroider logos and how to construct small sewing projects like ID panels and nametapes. Skills needed include attention to detail, dexterity, and clear vision. Some experience around thread and a needle is preferred, but the willingness to learn may be more important. BALCO Uniform is a family owned business for 30+ years and the staff is upbeat and wholesome. The owners are fun, honest, and really appreciative of their "work family".
Primary Responsibilities
Prioritizing orders to receive embroidery
Locate the center "start embroidery" location on a variety of clothing
Operate three Brother brand embroidery machines
Finish by cleaning the embroidery with scissors and lighter
Work closely with sales and operations staff to keep the business flowing
Required Hard Skills
General computer skills – Familiarity with email and USB hard drives
Understanding of sewing fundamentals
Ability to work efficiently with a ruler, scissors, and fabric
Strong and steady hands, good vision, ability to stand and sit many times in a day
Required Soft Skills
Team player, able and willing to solve problems, to help office personnel and customers with issues
Good communication skills – writing, over the phone and face to face
Creative with a desire to see a project to completion
Supportive of the public safety industry. Our customers are Policemen, Firemen, EMT's Nurses, and those that would wear a uniform to work.
Required Education
Looking for the right person with positive energy that will fit well into our team. The ideal candidate would have sewing and embroidery experience, but we have a great mentor on staff who is willing to teach the right candidate the required skills to succeed in this position. A High School Diploma is the minimum required education.
