SUMMARY: The Lead Maintenance Mechanic will lead by example, to work, to train, and to be a mentor to subordinates in a professional and polite manner. Perform mechanical repairs to ensure proper performance and safety of the Company fleet. Work performed will be accurate and prompt using best practices while limiting expenses to the company. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Diagnose mechanical problems using your knowledge and the diagnostic equipment needed.
Ordering of mechanical parts and components needed to complete repairs.
Working together as a team, supporting co-workers with repairs.
Inspect repairs completed and ensure correct repairs were made.
Complete pre-operational check lists on all trucks, fork-lifts, and vehicles prior to use.
Communicate and work as a team with Fleet Manager and staff to ensure all aspects of the job are complete to satisfaction and safety standards.
Perform routine vehicle maintenance and preventative care.
Report & record accurate labor hours and work orders.
Work irregular hours/staggered shifts as needed.
Answering/returning phone calls and responding to e-mails in a timely manner.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced knowledge of diesel, gasoline, & propane engine maintenance and repair.
Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs independently.
Must be familiar with computer operations, email, as well as the willingness to train and adapt to new technology and computer procedures as they evolve into the future.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with other departments.
Extensive knowledge & experience in the following: hydraulic systems, air brake systems, electrical system troubleshooting and repair, welding & fabrication, all types of heavy truck diagnosis and repair.
Must be able pass initial and random drug testing.
Must be able to pass a strength physical & DOT physical.
Must maintain a valid Montana CDL & pass a DOT drug test.
Must have and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to the Company’s insurer.
