The Direct Support Professional will assist and support an individual with a disability. As a Direct Support Professional you would have an opportunity to mutually enrich the life of your client and your own. This happens through communication, daily living, hygiene skills, behavioral intervention and social activities out in the community to enjoy life.

This position is perfect and invaluable experience for any student pursuing a healthcare, social sciences, or any individual just looking for a meaningful experience.

Job Duties:

• Support individual with basic living skills, community integration and develop and foster supportive and meaningful relationships with others.

• Assist persons in areas of personal care, home management, meal planning, shopping and health maintenance.

• Interact with advocates and, case managers and the public in a positive, professional manner.

• Assist Supported Person with schedule, the attendance of required meetings and any other mandatory conditions set forth by the agency.

• Maintain any Individual Plans and satisfy all reporting requirements

• Practice. collaboration through respectful interactions between yourself and the supported person.

• Mandatory attendance of the following training:

• Traumatic Brain Injury and any other diagnosis,

• Lifting and transferring, personal care,

• People First Language,

• HIPPA,

• Positive Behavior Support,

• Medication Management,

• Activities of daily living,

• Policies and Procedures, and;

• People First Language.

Qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent

• A passion to learn, adapt to situations, and advocate for people.

• Reliable transportation

• Ability to satisfy a background check

• Experience or training in positive behavioral support, preferred but not required.

• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds of unbalanced weight

• Willingness to teach and learn from one another

• Exercises cooperation and creativity

• A healthy sense of humor

• The desire to teach and be taught

• The desire to support, advocate, and accommodate the individual and their disability

• The ability practice active listening.

• Ability to make commitments and honor those commitments.

• Ability to mediate disagreements, practice restraint, and exercise diplomacy

• Treating the supported individual with dignity and respect.

Position Information and Benefit's

Wage: $10:50 to $12.90, Depending on Experience and Hours Approved

Location: Boulder, Montana
