We're a privately owned health food store that has been serving Helena since 1975! We're proud to provide local jobs and opportunities for individuals who support our mission (see below). The successful candidate will be passionate about organic and natural foods, possess an understanding of organic and regenerative agriculture and be able to demonstrate great customer service. This position is very physical, with long hours standing on cement floors and often in a cold environment. On-sight training provided. The successful candidate will be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. (Instructions on how to apply are provided below).

The Grocery Department Manager oversees the selection, pricing and promotion of products to meet store objectives for sales, margin, labor, and customer service. She/he supervises grocery clerks, ensuring proper scheduling and training to meet store objective and mission standards.

The Grocery Department Manager is responsible for:

Setting guidelines for ordering to obtain favorable prices, terms, quality and delivery.

Evaluating suppliers and investigate new sources of supply.

Reviewing department financial reports and take action where needed to meet sales, margin, turns and labor goals.

Ensuring preparation and completion of inventory counts.

Ensuring a fresh and dynamic grocery product mix by reviewing movement reports, discontinuing slow-movers, and researching new items.

Placing grocery special orders for customers. Review all grocery product requests.

Monitoring ingredients of all grocery items to conform to Real Food Market & Deli's product standards.

Experience:

Supervisory: administrative supervision, hiring, training, taking disciplinary action, evaluating and directing work flow; experience managing a self-directed team would be beneficial.

Purchasing and inventory management experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:

Familiarity with natural foods and organic products preferred.

Follows trends in the marketplace, and appropriately apply that knowledge to the store;

maintain accurate records and prioritize workload.

Strong organizational skills.

Commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Proficiency with computers, including spreadsheets.

POS system familiarity.

Ability to read financial reports.

Work Schedule: Mixed days, evenings and weekends
