Purpose of Position:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Finance, the Accountant I position will assist in managing the routine accounting operations of the airport. Duties will include accounting and clerical tasks necessary to process and record the financial transactions of the Flathead Municipal Airport Authority. This position may include other accounting or clerical duties as assigned. It is an administrative position within the context of Montana Law and FMAA policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this classification. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Manage accounts receivable functions including invoicing, collections, customer databases, payment processing, generating reports, and customer inquiries and servicing. Manage accounts payable functions including processing vendor invoices, classification of expenditures, communication with staff supervisors, generating reports, and vendor inquiries and servicing. Integrate and update information between computer programs. Maintain lessee accounts and assist with annual rate reviews. Update and maintain statistical data. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
College degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
-Recent experience and proficiency with QuickBooks desktop program including data entry, report printing, record searching, and journal entries.
-Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
-Full and demonstrable knowledge of cash and accrual accounting procedures and financial reporting.
-Knowledge of governmental accounting procedures is preferred.
-Ability to operate basic office equipment such as office copiers, scanners, postage machines, multi-line phones, etc.
-Ability to learn new computer programs as needed.
-Strict attention to detail is required.
-Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
-Ability to work effectively with many interruptions.
-Ability to work well with a diverse range of personalities.
-Must maintain confidentiality of information and records.
-Must be willing to follow all accounting policies and procedures as documented by the Airport Authority.
-Must be willing to attend airport related trainings as assigned by the Director of Finance.
-Must complete an employment history investigation and a criminal history check conducted by the FBI through the fingerprinting process.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position, consisting of 40 hours per week, that will be performed in an office setting or remotely as needed. Physical requirements include bending, sitting, walking, and light lifting. Occasional overtime could occur under special circumstances.
