Backslope Brewing is hiring a sous chef to work in our from scratch kitchen. Hours vary. Job responsibilities include prep and line cook responsibilities such as utilizing proper knife skills, reading and following recipes, using proper sanitization, washing dishes, understanding timing and cooking techniques, and in addition:
Demonstrate excellent communication with staff and customers
Be flexible in scheduling, be able to address daily schedule changes, ie. find coverage and fill shifts as needed
Complete inventory and place food orders
Create and post weekly schedules
Recognize priorities and assign tasks as necessary and give direction to staff to ensure tasks are completed correctly
Create and assist Chef with menu development
Communicate regularly with other managers
Be able to create adequate pricing for food items and specials
Address concerns of customers or front of the house staff
Directly supervise staff and address performance concerns or mistakes with staff as they occur, document all supervisory conversations
Be able to perform assigned Chef duties to cover vacations or other time off including distributing tips, posting schedules, submitting food orders
Compensation is tied to training so wage adjusts as training is completed. Must have kitchen experience but willing to train for specific sous chef responsibilities. Benefits include, 401(k) match, health insurance, long term disability insurance, paid time off, summer bonus, tips, shift meal.
