Fleet Mechanic

Buffalo Hill Golf Club has an immediate opening for an Equipment Manager / Fleet Mechanic. We are a 27-hole semi-private golf club with a full driving range and practice facilities. You will work with the Golf Course Superintendent and the rest of the management team to produce the best possible playing conditions by maintaining top equipment standards.

Responsibilities Include:

Work as a management staff member to ensure all equipment maintenance and safety standards are met.

Oversee all daily equipment setup and inspection.

Manage mechanical problems through investigation & diagnosis.

Perform routine maintenance including sharpening blades, changing oil & air filters, lubrication & fluid checks, and other preventative services.

Repair mowers, carts, blowers, trimmers, and other course tools & machines.

Work with vendors to purchase supplies such as fuel, parts, and tools, within the budget.

Manage the shop and equipment storage area in a clean, safe, and organized manner.

Maintain thorough and accurate records of repairs and preventive maintenance schedules utilizing the Task Tracker company software.

Train employees on proper equipment operation procedures and safety routines.

Assist, when necessary, with other course objectives such as maintenance, clubhouse repairs, snow removal (employee on call rotation) or other duties that may be required. Equipment management will remain the primary focus unless otherwise needed.

Report directly to the Superintendent. However, at times you may receive instruction from the General Manager or the Assistant Superintendent(s).

Experience Requirements:

Knowledge and experience working with golf course equipment, gas and diesel repair or maintenance, and small engine repair preferred.

Experience or the ability to learn how to grind reels, bed knives, and set up mowing & maintenance equipment accurately.

Ability to work in an organized and efficient manner and complete tasks within an appropriate timeline in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to identify equipment issues and ensure proper repairs.

Strong knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems preferred.

Good welding knowledge & experience preferred.

Basic computer skills for emails, parts ordering, and routine equipment logging.

Ability to receive, process, and communicate instructions from management professionally, and give instruction and training to other staff members.

Schedule:

During the golf season (April – October) schedule will typically be Monday – Friday 5am to 2pm, with some weekends required in a rotation or as needed. Some days may be longer or shorter depending on the workload but will usually be around 45-50 hours a week.

During the off-season (November – March) hours and schedule will vary depending on workload and weather. We do try to dial back some during the winter to help balance out for summer months.

Flexibility is required to work around golf tournaments and other special events; including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Any abnormal schedules or on-call availability would be discussed in advance.

Start and end times will adjust throughout the year as the seasons change and daylight increases or decreases. (Schedules can be discussed in more detail during the interview process.)

Pay & Benefits:

Salary $60,000 to $65,000 per year DOE (Open for negotiation with a well-qualified candidate.)
