Are you a Medical Assistant looking to work in a forward-thinking, positive environment? Bridgercare is seeking a certified or registered medical assistant, to support quality reproductive, and primary health services including family planning, breast & cervical cancer screening, Teen Clinic, colposcopy, and LGBTQ+ services. This position is 4 days per week.

32-36 hours/week- No weekends!

$20-23 DOE and certification

POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides patient support functions in the clinical role to support Bridgercare’s mission and clinical services according to Title X guidelines. The MA is under the direct supervision of the Nurse Supervisor.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

· Perform clinical support tasks including rooming patients, assessing vital signs, preliminary health history, providing results and basic reproductive, birth control and STI patient information.

· Learn and assist in clinical support procedures including pregnancy tests, urine specimen collection, accurately prepare lab specimens for transport to lab and order and receive labs per the electronic interface.

· Perform CLIA moderate complexity tests such as affirms, chlamydia and gonorrhea

· Give vaccines and do proper vaccine management and uploading in ImMTrax.

· Perform blood draws, administer medication, and administer IM and SubQ injections and vaccines, under the supervision of our Medical Director

· Answer patient phone calls and listen/respond to medical voicemail.

· Assist Providers and patients in contraceptive and reproductive clinical procedures and consent patients for procedures. Clinical procedures include but are not limited to insertion and removal of contraception devices including IUD’s and implants, colposcopy, ultrasound, and LEEP.

· Assist Lab Manager in training new hires, volunteers, and interns

· Provide patient education as needed, under supervision of our Medical Director

· Participate in staff meetings and training as scheduled.

· Communicate effectively orally and in writing; proficiency in computers required.

· Coordinate and work cooperatively with fellow staff as well as independently.

· Comfortably, respectfully discuss sensitive issues with clients, including patient care circumstances for purposes of scheduling and triage.

· Identify and triage patient needs in clinic and by phone.

· Perform inventory management of lab supplies

· Perform patient follow-up as indicated.

· Obtain case record information for reportable STI’s and complete contact tracing.

· Facilitate clinic operations in collaboration with Operations Assistant

· Open communication with providers.

· Open communication with patient coordinators

· Attending staff meetings.

· Serve on committees as desired.

· Be available to assist with the onboarding of new employees as they come to understand Bridgercare culture and operations

· Be a resource to colleagues for information in your area of expertise.

· Other clinical support tasks as assigned by Lab Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Medical Assistant certification required

· High School graduate or equivalent

· Expertise and recent healthcare experience preferred, but not required

· Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.

· Commitment to family planning philosophy and goals, including confidentiality, provision of services to adults and teens regardless of ability to pay, and comprehensive options counseling for unintended pregnancy and referral per Title X guidelines.
