Assistant Store Manager

Position Overview: Caras Nursery is seeking a dedicated and energetic Assistant Store Manager to join our team. As ASM, you will work closely with the store manager to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the store. Your primary responsibilites will be to provide exceptional customer service, manage daily store operations, and support a positive, collaborative team environment. You will assist with overseeing retail staff, handling customer inquiries, and ensuring the store meets operational and sales goals.

Hours: Your workload will be 40 hours per week, which is to include at least four days per week and at least one weekend day. You may be required to work both weekend days on holidays such as Mother's Day, Memorial Day, and all Caras Bucks Weekends. A more specific schedule will be determined after your start date.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service Excellence: You will provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with product selection, answering questions about store products, and helping with any issues that arise during their shopping experience.

Register Operations: You will operate the cash register, process transactions, and handle cash and credit payments accurately and efficiently.

Team Support & Engagement: You will support the retail team by fostering a positive and motivated work environment. You will engage with employees regularly, offering guidance and assistance as needed to help them complete their tasks effectively. Your ability to boost morale and maintain a high level of team enthusiasm will be key.

Physical Demands: The role requires standing and moving around for the majority of the shift, as well as bending, lifting, and carrying items up to 50 lbs. This is a hands-on position in a dynamic and physically demanding setting.

Collaboration with Store Manager: You will assist the Store Manager with daily operations, including inventory management, stocking, and receiving orders. You will help with special projects and any other tasks that arise to ensure the store runs efficiently.

Team Collaboration: You will work to maintain a cohesive team atmosphere across departments by fostering effective communication and collaboration. You will ensure that all team members, regardless of department, are working together harmoniously to achieve shared goals.

Store Maintenance & Cleanliness: Assist with ensuring the store is well-organized, clean, and visually appealing. This includes merchandising displays, keeping shelves stocked, and ensuring all products are properly labeled.

Qualifications:

Previous retail or supervisory experience preferred, ideally in a plant nursery or similar environment.

Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle customer inquiries and resolve issues.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate others.

Positive, proactive attitude and the ability to lead by example.

Must be a self-starter who can take care of tasks with minimal supervision.

Knowledge of plants and gardening is a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.

Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead as needed.

Additional Information: This is a year-round, full-time position.
